EasyTravel Active8 meets BMW in Parking Lot

RICHMOND HILL, ON. Staff reporter. 16 June 2004. 

This is what happened.

It was a sunny morning in the parking lot outside the ActiveLite showroom. A long-range, rough-terrain EasyTravel Active8 cruised by. The Active8 paused as it passed a black BMW 540i with tinted windows. Suddenly the driver of the BMW appeared and flicked the back of the Active8 seat down. The Active8 separated without a struggle. The Active8's lightweight components collapsed and folded easily, without displaying any resistance. None of the bystanders realizing what was going on. Within moments the entire Active8 was loaded into the automobile. The trunk of the BMW closed with a thud. Some observers said they heard a muffled "burp"! Then the satisfied car disappeared in a cloud of dust. 

Unconfirmed reports later in the day placed the Active8 on a mountain trail near the Forks of the Credit River. The matter remains under investigation.

A vehicle identical to the model shown above was swallowed by a BMW 540i in a Richmond Hill parking lot. "I saw this full-size scooter driving toward the BMW." said a surprised bystander who declined to give her name. "Next thing I knew the scooter was gone! It was all over within seconds."

Sharp Shooter Snaps the Snatch

A sharp shooting bystander, armed only with a Canon digital camera, ignored personal risk to capture images of the snatch in progress. "I have taken many action shots!", he exclaimed, "but never before in the field of Human Transport have I seen so much scooter go into so small a space with so little effort. One person ... no lift ... no ramp ... gone in 60 seconds. Wow!"
